I have to admit that I did not read the entire book, but I did read half of the book and just couldn’t take any more. I was surprised to see that the author has written so much and has won awards. Not for this book, I hope, unless the standards are very low. The story was interesting, which is why I gave it as long as I did. Plus I hate giving up on books. As for the writing, where do I begin. The author misused words, not seeming to know what some of the words actually meant. Next, she is massively repetitive. The two main characters seem to constantly say things and then “wish the words back.” Indeed, the author uses that exact phrase three times in the first third of the book. Of course, it is the woman who most often blurts things out. How did she become a top FBI agent? In addition, there are continuity errors. Perhaps the thing that made me the most crazy, aside from the “irresistible attraction,” despite the fact that the two main characters fight at every turn, is the overt sexism. I had to check at one point to see if the author was a man. The woman is a FBI profiler and our hero assumes that she is merely decorative, even though she is a co-leader of the group and has the stronger ties to the man who has hired the team, which the guys assumes is as his mistress, of course (she is his goddaughter). The worst is when the two leap into a kiss, right in the middle of an argument. This is the first kiss, mind you, and our hero is grabbing her breast and unbuttoning her shirt. I would have slapped him. It is not even as if the kiss built and heated up and things progressed. Nope, lips touch and hand clamps. We are teetering on sexual assault charges in my mind. I am not a prude, by any means, but the way it occurred disgusted me. I really did not want to encounter another instance of irresistible magnetism, and gave up. While I would have liked to discover how the book ended, I was too annoyed to continue. Proceed at your own risk.

Endgame Last Chance Book 1 edition by Dee Davis Romance eBooks Reviews

The problem with intel work is that a lot of it's done on computers, which does not make for exciting reading. This book has a slow pace, and a lot of intel work. It also has a cliche for a hero and a not very interesting storyline. I made myself finish it, even though it felt like it took forever to do so. I looked at reviews for the next 2 books in the series, but they said it was like reading this book with the names changed. I'm done with the series.
THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME TO READ A NOVEL BY THIS AUTHOR. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE BOOK. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. IT WAS WELL WRITTEN, EXCITING, AND KEPT ME ENGAGED WITH EACH CHARACTER. I PLAN TO SEARCH OUT MORE BOOKS BY THIS AUTHOR. IT WAS NOT THE BEST MYSTERY EVER, BUT REALLY A FUN ONE. I READ MYSTERIES CONSTANTLY AND GIVE BOOKS 100 PAGES BEFORE I GIVE UP; USUALLY I HAVE TO GIVE UP! THIS ONE WAS A KEEPER.
Complex mystery with a lot of murder, which by itself lends to a fast-paced plot. The author's writing style is enjoyable and I loved the incorporation of words she used throughout the book, which weren't of the garden variety.

As noted by another reviewer, the sex scenes in the book are detailed. Maybe a little more done than the average book in the genre, but I still enjoyed it. In fact, I thought the author did a very good job with it and if she wanted to go she could easily branch out into romance. (Maybe she does as well?)

Anyway, the conclusion was terrific and unexpected. I'm going to look into the next in the series
There are enough twists and turns in this high action thriller to keep you turning the pages to see what happens next. This writer has a Hugh imagination and to see this story on paper or in ebook form must make her day. The cooperation between the FBI and CIA may or may not be believable since the two organizations do not play well together. The characters of Gabriel and Madison are pitted against each other as each needs to have the upper hand in deciding which direction the investigation will go. The group finally becomes a team as the story progresses.
This was a great interesting story and very well written. Madison and Gabriel are a great couple from the moment they meet, along with some great secondary characters.

The story is told from different points of view with well defined breaks, which I believed keep the plot interesting as well as at a good pace. At the beginning Gabe and Madison are jealous of each other because of having to share the lead in a plot against a powerful corporation, they have a few good arguments with smart remarks a some tension that gives way to a passionate relationship between them.

I had a hard time figuring out who was the bad guy until the very end. There were some really good twists and turns a lots of suspense and investigative work.

I will read the next books in this series because they are about other characters that appeared in this one, which I really liked.
In Dee Davis's Endgame, the first instalment in the Last Chance romantic suspense series, you'll be thrown and blown away in this novel. When Madison's godfather Cullen Pulaski asked her to join his Last Chance team, this tenacious FBI profiler seeks him out in New York to find out about the problem. When she joins his joint task force team with her friend Harrison, things aren't what it seems to be. And then she met Gabriel Rourke, a man who's intrigued by Madison at first, a man who's kept personal stuff of his own to his chest. It all started to find a thread between the mysterious deaths of members of the consortium who had hoped to pull this accord with the Chinese trade to go through. Straight from the president himself, Cullen would pull no punches to find out who's taken out the board members. As they worked with the previous deaths, new ones had come along the horizon for them to figure it out. Besides all this, they had to deal with a potential mole in the midst as they're thrown together by enemy fire and potential red herrings along the way. While they grab hold with the feelings for each other, they come closer truth of who's behind the mess, when it hit too close to home for Madison. In dawning realization, she discovers the true culprit and his ambitious MO behind it with a twisted closing as she fought for her life and rebounded with true love.
