My son and I are crazy about owls and this book is our favorite reference for these dear creatures. The photography is amazing! We go back to it again and again, so we keep it on our coffee table in the family room for easy access. Family and guests have enjoyed it too. Highly recommended!

This book is really wonderful, it exceeds my expectations although I thought it must be exactly what I was looking for. There are incredibly many photographs of all sorts of owls that I haven't ever heard of, and the information given is very detailed. I can recommend it to everybody who likes owls and already knows the "basic" sorts. All in all, a fantastic book!
Got this for my mother after surgery. She loves owls. She said the photos were amazing and there was so much to look at. That many of the pictures were worthy to be framed as art. She is very particular, so that is saying a lot coming from her.
This is the best collection of owl photographs that I have ever seen in one volume. The first 70 pages describe owls in general. This very informative section covers everything from general characteristics to distribution to conservation. The species accounts give basic "field guide" information because it would be a massive undertaking to try to include background research on every single species in the world. For a more detailed book on owl research, although no pictures, check out "North American Owls" by Johnsgard (2002).
